Increases concrete strength and reduces permeability
Silica fume is recovered as a by-product of silicon and ferrosilicon alloy manufacture. Its extremely fine particle size fills the voids between cement grains, which raises compressive strength and sharply reduces permeability — the reason it appears in marine, industrial and high-performance concrete specifications.
