Textile & Leather Protection

Mould, staining and odour prevention for organic goods in sealed containers.

The problem

What actually goes wrong

Textiles and leather are hygroscopic and organic. They arrive at the port already carrying moisture, then spend weeks in a sealed steel box where that moisture cycles onto the goods and grows mould. Mildew staining on finished garments cannot be recovered.

The answer

Because the cargo is the moisture source, container-level desiccant does most of the work. Pack-level sachets protect individual cartons, and DMF-free grades are mandatory for consumer goods.

The method

How to get this right

A repeatable sequence, in the order that matters. Skipping the first step is the usual reason the rest disappoints.

Our recommendation: Container dry desiccants or Absorpoles in the box, DMF-free silica gel in non-woven sachets in the carton.
  1. Reduce moisture at loading

Cargo loaded damp will generate condensation no matter what is in the container.

  2. Specify DMF-free

Dimethyl fumarate is restricted in major markets and a non-compliant sachet is a market-access problem.

  3. Dose the container

Calcium chloride systems handle the volume of water that textile cargo releases.

  4. Dose the carton

Non-woven DMF-free sachets sized to carton volume.

  5. Consider odour

Where musty odour is the presenting complaint, an activated carbon blend addresses it alongside the moisture.
